Marketing is the Word
It’s no surprise that people love to talk. People love to talk so much that they use several different channels to do so such as the phone, email, Twitter, and Facebook. Some people even talk face-to-face. Imagine that.
Are they talking about your business?
People are talking about everything from airplanes to zoos. Surely, your business falls into their conversation at one point or another. As part of your marketing, you want to create a relationship with your target audience so they share their love of your brand with others. Word of mouth marketing draws on this love so people have something to tell others.
You can spread the love (or word) by making customers happy. Yes, it’s true when people talk they’re not always saying good things. That is why you need to earn the respect of your customers so they will want to recommend your business. Listen and learn from negative customer experiences. It’s what you do about it that counts. Use the power of word of mouth to treat your customers better.
So how do you get them to talk?
– Apply publicity techniques and viral marketing as a way to create word of mouth. This can include a game, contest, event, or activity that grabs the customer’s attention.
– Establish relationships with influencers in your industry or target market so they can spread the message for you.
– Ask for recommendations. This can build your overall brand and reputation. Make sure you have your key messages in line before you dive into word of mouth marketing. A consistent message is important so people are saying the same things about your product and services.
– Have people try your product or service. This can include asking people for their feedback so they feel their opinion matters.
– Inform consumers of specials, promotions, new products, and other offers to stay in touch with them.
People are already talking about your product or service. So join the conversation and communicate with your customers daily. Make it interesting enough so it’s worth talking about. Also, be sure to keep the conversation going by inviting them to connect with you on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. By reaching out to your customers, they’ll start doing the word of mouth marketing for you.
